On the 22nd of October, 2018,Gansu Radio & TV University (Gansu RTVU) broadcast a course, Online Learning Theory and Practice, via its cloud classroom, enabling learners to watch a live class on mobile terminals for the first time.
In the past, the learners were only able to do this in designated cloud classrooms or on PCs, which limited the numbers of students for any given class. Since September 2018, technical personnel in the University Information Centre have conducted several experiments with cloud-computing technology on newly purchased facilities, and by docking these with the cloud classroom have made it possible to take live class on mobile terminals, giving learners greater flexibility and enhancing their learning experience.
Since the cloud-classroom system was launched at provincial RTVUs, Gansu RTVU has been exploring a new type of distance teaching based on its use. Statistics show that a total of 800 teaching hours have been given to nearly 10,000 learners this way, greatly alleviating the problem of a lack of teachers in the province, promoting resource sharing, and creating an environment in which “anyone can learn anytime and anywhere”.
