The OUC spring 2018 final exams were held from 7-8th July 2018. 109 examinees from Shulanghu Island, 150 kilometres away from downtown Ningbo, also attended the exams.

It is reported that these examinees are employees of Quhuang Port Exploitation and Construction Limited Company, a branch company of Ningbo Port of Zhoushan Group. It would have taken them around 10 hours to travel to Ningbo by boat and bus to take the exams in person. Instead, Ningbo TV and Radio University (Ningbo RTVU) brought examination services to the island, allowing them to take the exams on the spot.

In 2016, Ningbo RTVU and the Ningbo Federation of Trade Unions launched the Realising Dreams of Further Education activity, which has received a great deal of attention from Ningbo Port of Zhoushan Group. The group actively encouraged its employees to enrol and cooperated with the university in multiple fields. Ningbo RTVU arranged for its teachers to visit the island and hold exams, solving problems like poor transportation and the conflict between working and learning.

In order for the examinees to finish computer-based testing, teachers carried dozens of computers and routers to the island. The first batch of students will graduate next term. In addition to the examinations, the teachers also offered the students guidance on their graduation theses so that they can prepare in advance and graduate on time.
