On April 28, 2016, a delegation led by Vice President Trofimov Vsevolod Viktorovich from the National Open Institute in St. Petersburg visited Fujian RTVU.

Fujian RTVU’s Vice President Ma Guofang met the delegation and noted that Russia and China are good neighbours, with a history of cooperation and friendship. The “One Road One Belt” initiative instituted by Chinese President Xi Jinping would intensify the overall strategic partnership between China and Russia and further promote educational exchange and cooperation. Both institutions are dedicated to integrating modern information and technology into higher education. With this common background, communication and cooperation should be strengthened to achieve mutual benefits and promote the development of distance education initiatives for both universities, whilst advancing Fujian RTVU’s internationalization level in the field of modern distance education. Mr. Viktorovich expressed his thankfulness for the warm hospitality and stated that the National Open Institute in St. Petersburg will mark this visit as a turning point in deepening cooperation with Fujian RTVU and contributing to further exchange and cooperation in the field of higher education between China and Russia.

President of Fujian RTVU Chen Xingyan hosted a symposium with the delegation. Chen Xingyan introduced the basic conditions and features of the Fujian RTVU school operating system. Chen explained that the National Open Institute in St. Petersburg is experienced in information technology, the construction of teaching resources and curricula, and that he hoped that both universities will be open to in-depth exchanges, expanding cooperation channels on the basis of the Letter of Intent signed in 2015 by the two parties so as to assist Fujian RTVU in its endeavors to transform and upgrade into an open university. Later, discussions regarding cooperative projects of resource construction, technical support, and teacher and student exchanges, etc. were held between both parties. The delegation also paid a visit to the information centre and student practice training base.

Chen Zhanhong, Vice President of Fujian RTVU and relevant personnel from the teaching affairs department, information centre, and teaching management centre also joined the meeting and symposium.
