Since October 2015, an art activity has swept all over the students in Anhui provincial Radio and TV University (RTVU) system -- Anhui RTVU’s First Campus Online Singer Competition is being carried out enthusiastically with a theme of“Sing at the Rhythm of Youth and Sing out the RTVU’s Dream”. As of now, the hits on the activity website have surpassed 500,000.

The activity is intended to enhance the RTVU students’ qualities and enrich the campus culture, and throughout has been implemented online. Since the start of the contest, it has been widely responded to by students in the provincial RTVU system and greatly supported by RTVUs at different municipal and county levels as well as relevant sectors in the provincial schools.

Singing everywhere in the Jianghuai region (regions in the middle of Anhui and Jiangsu provinces), with RTVUs bonded like a family

Thanks to the concerted efforts of RTVUs in the whole province, the competition has been successfully implemented. For instance, Bengbu RTVU started a full mobility campaign by class tutors to encourage the students to substantially participate in the activity, and with careful arrangement and organizing it has exceeded other schools in the number of students entering the competition; the open education school of the provincial school “customized” posters for the contestants, giving them an experience of stars and kindling their passion for the contest; Fuyang RTVU gave full play to its campus network and QQ groups to cheer its contestants on and actively optimized their equipment and facilities for the competition; Suzhou RTVU increased its efforts towards the competition and allotted a special sum to have an on-campus selection prior to the contest; Wuhu RTVU stressed improving the students’ art of singing and discovered lots of “real power singers”for the contest… The units within the RTVU system have provided all-round guidance for the contesting students, for example, the tutors taught the students to make, record, edit and upload their entries online in one-on-one and practical guidance, which also occupied much of the tutors’time after work.

Relevant sectors in the provincial schools supplied all-round service guarantee for the competition. The technology centre of the provincial school worked on ongoing improvements of the online contest platform to offer strong technical support; the contest publicity team made very careful plans to positively promote the publicity channels and expand the activity’s influence.

Family support and their praise & blessings

Family and friends of the contestants were all involved in the competition. On the competition online platform, the contestants’ family and friends send their praises and blessings to encourage them to perform better. A contestant from Suzhou RTVU said that when he was young, he would like to sing songs for his parents, but later when he grew up he spent more time on entertainments with his friends and rarely sang for his parents. Through this contest, his song could be listened to again and again by his parents every day, and they could even share it with others.

The contestants all said that they were thankful to the school for offering such a stage to show their talents and maintained that “participation is more important than winning a prize”, and they thought that singing increased their interest in art and enriched the campus cultural life, hoping that more similar activities would be carried out in the future.
