On May 28, 2015 the inauguration ceremony of the “Anhui RTVU Village Library”, donated and founded by the RTVU at Caobei village, Zhaoji township in Taihe county, was held in Anhui RTVU’s targeted poverty alleviation unit - the Maying Primary School.
Over a period, staff from Anhui Radio and TV University (RTVU) have undertaken surveys and investigations into poverty alleviation and into providing support to households or organizations in poverty. Wang Chuanxu, Secretary of Anhui Party Committee, Vice President Zhang Min and other responsible personnel from related departments took part in the activities. Through this activity, Anhui RTVU put into effect “Anhui RTVU’s Targeted Help and Assistance Scheme of “Units Responsible for Villages, Cadres Responsible for Households”, which grounded the work of poverty alleviation.
To set up Maying Primary School “RTVU Village Library”, Anhui RTVU invested capital to purchase over 1600 new books, computers, bookshelves, magazine racks, desks and chairs, computer chairs, sports goods etc. and organized among the RTVU faculty and staff a donation activity of over 1400 books.
In the subsequent meetings on targeted poverty alleviation, Zhang Min noted that the RTVU would continue to give full play to the advantages of system teaching and distance teaching and take a knowledge base and education as important levers for poverty alleviation as well as strengthening its contribution to poverty alleviation in helping Caobei village to shake off poverty and become prosperous as soon as possible. He also expressed the wish that Maying Primary School would be able to make good use of the library to maximize its impact, bringing more children into the house, enabling them to love reading, to dream of possibilities, to enjoy reading and to develop through reading.
