To further deepen the cooperation in running schools with industry and enterprises, and enlarge the social impact of RTVU education, the Open University of Fujian and the Fujian branch of Xinhuanet Co., Ltd. formally signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement on May 21, 2015, agreeing to promote media convergence and the development of lifelong education.
Ma Guofang, Party Secretary of the Open University of Fujian hoped that both sides could deploy their respective advantages of brand promotion, curriculum development, and information technology to jointly carry out online and offline educational training, and expand support service channels, utilizing their complementary advantages to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results, as well as better promoting the continuing education and lifelong learning platform construction of Fujian.
Yao Yujiang, Deputy General Manager of the Xinhuanet Mobile Internet Centre and General Manager of the Online Education Division said, that in the implementation of "media convergence", Xinhuanet Fujian branch and the Open University of Fujian followed current trends in conducting comprehensive business cooperation by formally signing a strategic cooperation framework agreement. This move has not only followed the direction of new media convergence advocated by General Secretary Xi Jinping, but also conforms to the trend of our times. The Open University of Fujian is a new type of higher education institution that embodies modern education thought and employs modern information technology to provide distance education. According to the agreement, both sides will integrate their resources, utilise their respective platforms and effective channels to achieve mutual benefit and common development. The Open University of Fujian will rely on the high quality resources of the Fujian branch of Xinhuanet to provide powerful public opinion and network technical support for the transformation, upgrading and undertakings of the university, giving full play to the advantages of the system and providing necessary support for online education ventures and project training. The two sides will share resources, seek common development, and actively serve the economic and social development of Fujian Province and its lifelong education.

After the signing ceremony, the delegation led by Ma Guofang and Chen Xingyan also visited the Xinhuanet Fujian Channel News Media Centre.
