On 27 August, 2014, the 1st “Municipal Level Education and ICT Competency Training” for teachers from secondary vocational schools in Wuhan was concluded. The training lasted 7 days, and nearly 200 teachers from 35 secondary vocational schools in Wuhan participated in the training.
“Education and ICT Competency Training” is an education public service project funded by the government. This project consists of two sub-projects, namely: "General Knowledge of ICT Training for Management and Teachers" and "Training for Subject Teachers on Specific Topics of Micro-lectures and Subject Integration". Via the tendering and bidding process, Wuhan Radio and TV University (Wuhan RTVU) was selected due to the fact that its technical scheme has been uniformly recognized and appraised by the evaluation experts for its appropriate curriculum arrangement, reasonable teaching content, highly qualified teaching staff, sound environment for project implementation, proper methods and procedures for the project, and reasonably comprehensive quotations. All these have contributed to Wuhan RTVU being chosen as the winner of the bidding, being chosen to deliver the 1st vocational education training programme in Wuhan.
On 21 August, "General Knowledge of ICT Training for Management and Teachers" for secondary vocational schools was kicked off. Later, on 23 August, "Training for Subject Teachers on Specific Topics of Micro-lectures and Subject Integration" was launched. To ensure the quality of the training, Wuhan RTVU not only selected backbone teachers who are experienced in each subject, but also invited professors from Central China Normal University and experts from National E-learning Resource Centre to give lectures at the training. During the training, class attendance was strengthened and process management was intensified to ensure the effects of the training. The head teacher was strict with class attendance every day. Any cases of absence from class were truthfully recorded by the instructors. The latest training process and training experience from students were compiled as newsletter to be uploaded to the QQ group of this training class.
President of Wuhan RTVU Ma Feng said that Wuhan RTVU has been paying attention to the inevitable demand for accelerating the development of modern vocational education and the digitization of vocational education in China. In the hope of training backbone teaching staff to make vocational education digitally accessible and tailored to future needs, Wuhan RTVU, at the request of the Education Bureau of Wuhan, has focused on building up a training base of teachers from secondary vocational institutions to improve their education and ICT competency; becoming engaged in conducting the 1st “Education and ICT Competency Training” for secondary vocational teachers in Wuhan; striving to make the best use of distance education technology; exercising its ICT specialty advantages; and preparing high quality “Education and ICT Competency Training” for teachers from secondary vocational schools under the Education Bureau of Wuhan.
