The list of prize winners of the Seventh Fujian Provincial Teaching Achievements in Higher Education has been published recently by Fujian Provincial Department of Education, and the project “Building Up State-Level Demonstration Platform of Lifelong Education, Leading the Construction of the Public Service System of the Learning Society”, by Fujian RTVU, has won the first prize, and “Innovation and Practice of ‘Micro Classroom’ Teaching Model”, also by Fujian RTVU, took home the second prize.
The Fujian Provincial Teaching Achievement prize is chosen every four years, and is the top award in the higher education teaching field under the review of the Fujian Provincial Department of Education, and is given to those collectives and individuals who have made outstanding contributions and gained notable achievements in the teaching of higher education.
The project “Building Up State-Level Demonstration Platform of Lifelong Education, Leading the Construction of the Public Service System of the Learning Society”, based on the “Fujian Lifelong Learning Online”, committed to providing all people with access to lifelong learning, and comprising more than 100,000 hours of digital learning resources, has achieved great things: Fujian RTVU has set up the community education network accross cities and counties around Fujian, providing a convenient digital learning environment in which people can study anytime and anywhere, having access to training covering many industries and achieving lifelong learning for all, expanded the lifelong learning channel, and had great success. The university has trained over one hundred million people in the past four years, and has been designated as the national “Demonstration Base of Public Service Platform for Lifelong Learning” by the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Finance.
Among the achievements of the project “Innovation and Practice of ‘Micro Classroom’ Teaching Model”, Fujian RTVU adapted to the needs of the fast-paced life style of modern society and the development of modern information technology to produce micro lectures with a duration of ten minutes, inserted real-time tests and exercises in the curricula, and provided real-time and interactive learning support services by using forums, QQ groups, WeChat and Weibo, integrating more than 700 micro lectures of various types. Students’ page views of the platform such as “Micro Lecture Online” have exceeded 50,000 visitors, forming a basis for the “Micro Classroom” innovative teaching model which has become characteristic of Fujian RTVU and suited to the study patterns of today's adults.
