The 2013 Annual Conference for China’s Educational professionals and the Best of Chinese Education Awards Ceremony was held at the Diaoyutai State Guest Hotel in Beijing by China Internet Information Center (China.org.cn) on December 12, 2013.
President Feng Xuefei of Tianjin Radio and TV University (RTVU) was honored with the “Best of Chinese Education: Outstanding Presidents” award for 2013. A total of 20 presidents were honored with the award, including President Chen Jining of Tsinghua University, President Gong Ke of Nankai University, President Xie Heping of Sichuan University, President Zhang Yaoxue of Central South University, and President Zhang Rong of Shandong University.
At the conference, over 500 experts, presidents, teachers, education entrepreneurs, and media professionals gathered for a review of China’s educational development in 2013. With the theme “Salute to the Reformers”, in-depth discussions were held on the existing problems and prospects for China’s education development, with a focus on deepening the comprehensive reforms in the educational domain stated in the Decisions of the Third Plenary Session of the Eighteenth Central Committee of the CPC. At the conference, 20 Best of Chinese Education awards were conferred, including the Candlelight Award, the Suggestion Award, the China’s Outstanding Teachers award, and the Positive Energy in Education award. Two high-level educational forums on “The Educational Collision Between China and the West” and “The Future of Reform on the Tenth Anniversary of the promulgation of the Law on Promotion of Private Education” were held at the same time as the awards.
