On December 19th 2013, Chongqin Radio and TV University (RTVU) signed a memorandum of strategic cooperation with the Open University of the United Kingdom (OUUK). Hu Jiming, Vice President of Chongqin RTVU, and Steve Hill, CEO of International Affairs of the OUUK, signed the agreement on behalf of each party.
According to the agreement, both parties will carry out in-depth cooperation in such fields as enhancing teacher competence, communication between teachers and students, curriculum development and sharing, and joint effort in developing an international school and training agency, so as to promote the quality of open education in Chongqin RTVU.
Hu Jiming held talks with delegation representative, Steve Hill, CEO of International Affairs of the OUUK, Neil Blakeman, External Senior Adviser of the OUUK, and Yang Guangyu, China Area Manager. The two parties held discussions on construction and sharing of teaching resources, learner support, training of teachers, credit transfer and qualification accreditation. They hoped that with the opportunity of this meeting and signing of the memorandum, a wider and deeper exchange and cooperation in open and distance education would be promoted by both parties.
Chen Bing, Assistant to the Director of the Culture and Education Department for the south-west region of the British Consulate-General, and the directors of the relative departments of Chongqin RTVU attended the meeting and the signing ceremony.
