At 9 o’clock on the morning of November 1, the first regular online meeting of teaching affairs management of Open Education in the provincial Radio and TV University system (RTVUs) was formally launched via a province-wide video conference. The faculty and administrative staff from RTVU branch schools and teaching units located throughout the province, as well as the Academic Affairs Department and teaching departments of Hunan RTVU gathered on the Internet to discuss their work and exchange experiences.Vice President Peng Simao of Hunan RTVU gave a speech at the ceremony launching the first online regular meeting of teaching affairs management. He thanked the attendees for their hard work on behalf of Hunan RTVU and expressed hope that the regular online meeting group could become an effective channel of communication, tool of teaching affairs management and link of emotional association within the provincial RTVUs. He also asked the participants to take advantage of the regular online meeting group to continue improving teaching affairs management and learner support.
Three faculty members from Hunan RTVU’s Academic Affairs Department, Zhu Cuie, Li Qing and Liu Li, reported separately about provincial RTVUs’ teaching management, students status and first stage of exam management, illustrated their recent work and requirements, and interpreted a document entitled “Opinions on Continuing Several Important Tasks in Teaching Affairs Management.” Frontier teachers and administrators from teaching departments and teaching affairs departments throughout the provincial RTVUs discussed and communicated with each other about how to implement the crucial task before them .
On October 18, 2013, Hunan RTVU hosted Hunan RTVU Open Education programme’s regularly scheduled meeting group on teaching affairs management. As of this writing, 226 people representing 19 branch schools have joined the group. Hunan RTVU’s Academic Affairs Department will insist on holding regular meetings on teaching affairs management, with the aim of providing an online platform for real time communication and exchanges about teaching affairs management in Hunan RTVU, branch schools and other teaching units.
