At the event themed on “Digital Empowerment for the Construction of a Learning Society” hosted by the Ministry of Education (MOE), it is learned that the Smart Education of China ∙ Lifelong Education Platform has undergone an upgrade to its 2.0 version.

In terms of aggregating high-quality educational resources, the Smart Education of China ∙ Lifelong Education Platform has introduced two new zones: a career competency zone to enhance learners’ workplace skills and boost their career development, and an artificial intelligence (AI) education zone to promote AI education across all academic levels and improve general public literacy. Meanwhile, the Vocational Education Platform of Smart Education of China has newly launched a "Social Learning" column.

Simultaneously, the apps of the platforms have undergone upgrades through deep integration of AI technologies. The Smart Education of China ∙ Lifelong Education Platform has launched six new smart features, including AI customer service, personalised recommendations, intelligent learning companions, intelligent search, learning navigation, and automated course summarisation. And the Vocational Education Platform has enhanced its AI teaching assistant to provide more advanced smart learning services.

The Smart Education of China Platform launched its lifelong education section, namely, the Smart Education of China ∙ Lifelong Education Platform, in December last year. In the six months since its debut, the platform has served a cumulative total of 9.63 million learners, with 78% of users aged 18-35. Workplace skills courses rank among the most popular courses. Beyond upgrading the platform, MOE has also initiated several digital transformation initiatives, including building digital learning networks, digitising higher education resources, digitally transforming self-study examinations, and digitalising the credit bank system, all aimed at empowering the development of a learning society.

Relevant MOE official stated that, in the next step, we will strengthen the construction of the Smart Education of China ∙ Lifelong Education Platform. The platform will further gather rich lifelong learning resources, promote the mutual progress of school education, family education, and social education, to ultimately build a future-oriented learning society.
