On September 2, 2013, Latina Lab, Oslo University College’s digital teaching development research lab joined the Support Alliance for the OUC Project Research Center. The lab’s Director, Professor Helge Hoivik, was invited to join the project research centre’s technical committee. Professor Yang Zhijian, president of the OUC, issued the appointment certificate. Professor Hoivik also delivered an academic report entitled: “Online Course Development: Rapid, Multi-purpose Development Methods”. The report was hosted by Zhang Shaogang, deputy secretary of the OUC Party Committee. Newly enrolled staff and a number of the OUC’s teachers attended the seminar. 
During the two hours of academic exchange activities, Professor Hoivik introduced the digital teaching development research lab and its typical digital learning research projects. He briefly analyzed the influence and development trends of mobile learning and MOOCs, focusing on introducing online course development modles, rapid development methods and the logic of online course development. The teachers from the OUC held a dialogue on some of the pressing issues of distance education.
Helge Hoivik is a Professor at Oslo University College, and director of the Latina Lab. He has been devoted to the design and research of digital learning materials since the 1980s. He was previously awarded a Fulbright Scholarship by the U.S. Government. His main areas of research include mobile learning, e-textbooks, cloud computing, blended learning and teaching research and development based on MOOCs, and the research and development of game-based education software.
Oslo University College’s Latina Lab has held a number of international digital learning training courses for university teachers and students since 2008. The majority of the courses were designed and given by Professor Hoivik. He has also hosted and led a number of international cooperation projects including UNESCO’s Latina 4 Palestine and the European Union’s Latina Africa project.
