On January 9, 2013, a delegation led by Professor Helge Hoivik of Oslo University College visited the Open University of China (OUC). As a result of in-depth discussions, the two sides have decided to cooperate closely in fields including distance education course development and the use of distance education in teacher training.

Zhang Shaogang, deputy secretary of the OUC Party Committee, met Professor Helge Hoivik and introduced the OUC and its concept of international cooperation. The delegation visited the “From China Central Radio and TV University to the Open University of China” exhibition on the history of the OUC along with the Digital Learning Experience Centre. They paid specific attention to the operation and development of the OUC’s Information Management Department, School of Education and Chinese Language Centre, and praised the OUC for its success in integrating information technology and teaching activities.

Oslo University College is Norway’s largest state university college, providing Norway’s most comprehensive learning resources. It is renowned for its work in open and distance education, including curriculum design, learner support, teacher training and the development of new education technologies.
