Recently, the Open University of China (OUC) and the Hellenic Open University (HOU) held an online special meeting to discuss cooperation on international curriculum resources and other related matters.

The meeting was attended by Prof. Manolis Koutouzis, rector of the HOU; Prof. Panagiotis Kagialis, vice rector of Academic Affairs and Outreach; and professors from relevant faculties. From the OUC side, attendees included Li Song, a member of the Party Committee and vice president of the OUC; Li Wei, director of the Learning Resources Department; Sun Hongfei, dean of the Experimental College; Wang Xiangxu, deputy dean of the College of International Education; Zhang Feng, deputy dean of the School of Art; and Bai Chenyang, deputy dean of the School of Humanities.

In January of this year, Li Song led a delegation to visit the HOU, during which both universities reached an intention for resource cooperation. At this meeting, Prof. Manolis Koutouzis briefly introduced the HOU’s modules of Hellenic Culture and Nature and proposed directions for project collaboration with the OUC. These include introducing Chinese language and culture courses from the OUC and collaborating with the OUC on the Open Learning Centre programme.

Li Song expressed his gratitude for the HOU's active promotion of project cooperation. He stated that the OUC is willing to exchange with and work together with the HOU to share resources and progress together. Based on the long-standing civilisations of both countries, the two institutions can use resource sharing and exchange as a pivot to jointly advance the implementation and refinement of collaborative projects.

Representatives from the HOU introduced the main modules and teaching design concepts of the Hellenic Culture and Nature major courses. Representatives from the OUC presented resources related to traditional Chinese culture, international Chinese education, as well as the construction of open learning centres and international teaching platforms. Both sides exchanged views on cooperation matters such as the co-construction and sharing of curriculum resources and international teaching platforms.

In the future, the OUC will further strengthen in-depth exchanges with the HOU, steadily promote the implementation of cooperation projects, and chart a new blueprint for international cooperation in open education through a fair, inclusive, open, and shared approach.
