The 1st Asian psychoanalytic conference of IPA will be held in Beijing, China, 22-24 October, 2010. The theme is "FREUD AND ASIA -EVOLUTION AND CHANGE: PSYCHOANALYSIS IN THE ASIAN CONTEXT".

The conference is organized by the IPA China Committee, the IPA Centenary Committee, with the China Association for Mental Health, on the occasion of the 100th Anniversary of the foundation of the IPA. The conference represents the IPA commitment to the diffusion and development of psychoanalysis in the Asian Region.

It is also a foundation for cooperation and collaboration among psychoanalytic societies and groups in Asia: IPA China Allied Centre, Israel Psychoanalytical Society, Indian Psychoanalytical Society, Japan Psychoanalytic Society, Korean Study Group, Mumbai Psychoanalytic Group, Psychoanalytic Institute for Eastern Europe, Taiwan Centre for the Development of Psychoanalysis.

The Open University of China (OUC) is one of the organizers of this conference, with its Faculty of Agroforestry & Medicine taking a lead responsibility. The Faculty has been closely involved in Chinese psychological circles in research and development of counseling and psychotherapy resources in China since the OUC organized the inaugural meeting of the National Projects Supported by Science and Technology, the Training Programme of Psychological Disease Control and Research and Development Project on Continuing Education Resources on 27 December 2009.
