On Feb. 3, 2010, the 28th EXPOLANGUES opened in the Porte de Versailles in Paris. At 5 p.m., the opening ceremony of Chinese language exhibition zone was held in the area of Hanban/Confucious Institute Headquarters, which was hosted by Director of Educational Materials Division from Hanban, Sun Wenzheng. Ms. Liu Jingyu, the chief secretary of the Chinese Embassy to France, and Ms. Mikki Canton, the representative on behalf of the Mayor of Miami, delivered a speech

respectively at the ceremony and cut the ribbon together. The serial teaching material Exploring Chinese Culture produced by the Center was sent as gifts to the guests attended the ceremony by Hanban.

The serial teaching material Exploring Chinese Culture contained 45 themes in 8 categories including the Chinese traditional festivals, Chinese traditional customs, the cultural symbols, Chinese famous historical and cultural sites, Chinese folk arts, Chinese folk sports and living in China. It was dubbed in Chinese and English and subtitled in 4 languages. With vivid videos and pictures, it better met the needs of publicizing Chinese culture in the oversea countries, and was well received and applauded by the attendees of the exhibition. The Center had presented more than 20 kinds of products on Chinese language teaching and Chinese culture. Apart from Easy Chinese-Speak Out and China Panorama-Approaching Chinese, which were already published in France, the multi-media supplementary teaching materials such as Chinese Language Video for the Classroom and Exploring Chinese Culture were the main products promoted this time.

The Chinese language exhibition zone was located in the No. 2 exhibition hall of the 5th exhibition floor, covering an area of 200 square meters. There were 10 publishing houses of Chinese language teaching and 15 Confucius Institutes (Classrooms) of France participating in the exhibition this year. The exhibits included several hundred kinds and more than one thousand Chinese language teaching textbooks and supplementary materials, readings in Chinese culture, and audio-visual multimedia and network products, which were designed and developed particularly for the French market. The exhibition attracted more than 200 language promotion institutes and language teaching and publishing houses, which has covered more than 60 kinds of languages of nationalities or regions in 30 countries.
