On July 21, 2015, Dr. Li Fuxin, President of the Chinese Language Teachers’ Federation of Australia (CLTFA) visited the Open University of China (OUC). Dr. Li looked through the university’s MyEChinese teaching platform and expressed his wish to discuss the possibilities for promoting the platform in the Chinese schools in Australia.
Dr. Li Fuxin also attended the historical exhibition with the theme of “In-depth Integration of Information Technology and Education ---- from RTVU to OUC” and the OUC’s third anniversary achievement exhibition. Then he paid a visit to the OUC Chinese Language Centre and had a meeting with OUC Vice President Zhang Shaogang.
Dr. Li Fuxin remarked that he was amazed to see OUC’s rapid development of the integration of education and information technology, as well as the fact that the OUC had enrolled over 30,000 overseas Chinese learners in the U.S. and other countries and regions since 2006. He showed strong interest in MyEChinese teaching platform and said that he would like to take the initiative to lead some of the teachers from the Australian School of Contemporary Chinese to look at the Chinese teaching platform and discuss the possibilities of spreading it in the Chinese schools of Australia after he returned.
Dr. Li Fuxin is the Chairman of the Board of Australia Trilong International PTY Ltd, President of the Australian School of Contemporary Chinese and Australia Pacific Educational Press. Dr. Li was elected as the President of the CLTFA at its 21st Annual Board Conference in July 2015. This is also the first time in 22 years that a scholar with a China mainland background has taken the position of president of the CLTFA.
