On the morning of May 17, 2013, Jintang Village, Kanxu Township, Daxin County, Chongzuo City hosted the unveiling ceremony for “RTVU Book Rooms”. “RTVU Book Rooms” is co-sponsored by the OUC and Guangxi RTVU, and was created to improve the learning environment for youths in rural areas, enhance their reading abilities and scientific-cultural quality, and to help bring about the realization of the “Chinese Dream” by providing them with better learning facilities and reading resources. More than 20,000 Yuan worth of books were donated to Jintang Village. Many distinguished leaders attended the grand-opening ceremony and delivered speeches, including: Zhang Hui, deputy party secretary of the OUC, Cui Jian, party secretary of Guangxi RTVU, and Zhang Zhijun, deputy director of the Standing Committee of the People’s Congress of Daxin County. They expressed their desire that Jintang Village make full use of the donations to provide favorable reading conditions and environment for students. A student representative also spoke at the ceremony to extended heartfelt thanks to the leaders and teachers of the OUC and Guangxi RTVU, and express the students' resolve to study hard in order to give back to society in the future.
As an important part of “Hand in Hand — A Reading Movement among Rural Youth” — a movement supported by the OUC and provincial RTVUs, “RTVU Book Rooms” in rural areas aim to take full advantage of RTVU's educational and cultural resources to create greater access to education and culture for youths in rural areas, thereby contributing to local economic and social development. Based on Fu Min Night School sponsored by Guangxi RTVU in Jintang Village, the “RTVU Book Room” in Jintang Village will open a new door to the outside world for students, and reflect RTVU's contributions to the construction of a society in which every citizen is committed to learning and can pursue such learning throughout their lifetime, and echoes RTVU's goal of making learning accessible to “anyone, anywhere, anytime”.
