Wuhan, 5 September 2025 – The semi-finals of the fashion design and model display category in the 2025 “Golden Age Cup” National Senior Arts Performance were held in Wuhan, Hubei Province. The event was jointly organised by the Seniors University of China (SUC) and China Education Television (CETV) and hosted by the Hubei Branch of SUC.
LIU Chen, former Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee of SUC and Vice President of the China Adult Education Association; PAN Zhuo, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee of CETV; CHEN Zhixiang, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee and President of Hubei Open University; and XIAO Xiao, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Committee of Hubei Open University attended the event.
LIU Chen highlighted that the National Senior Education Achievements Performance has become a flagship event of SUC, serving as a vital platform to showcase the learning achievements of older adults in the new era and their spirit of lifelong learning, proactive positivity, and the joy of learning while ageing. He noted that holding this semi-final at Hubei Open University reflects the close collaboration within the SUC system. Going forward, SUC will further deepen collaboration and joint innovation with all branches to build a ubiquitous and accessible lifelong education system and contribute to the construction of a leading country in education.
PAN Zhuo underscored that, as the media outlet directly under the Ministry of Education, CETV always takes serving lifelong learning for all as its mission. Through multi-channel, wide-coverage promotion including high-frequency rolling TV trailers, news reports, special programmes and broadcasts of outstanding works, CETV has helped convey the beauty of later life and share the creativity and vitality of senior learners, ensuring their talents are seen by more people.
Since the launch of the fashion design and model display category, 385 teams from across the country have entered, covering cheongsam, casual chic, neo-Chinese, ethnic features and haute-couture evening gowns. Twenty teams and nearly 400 silver-haired participants took part in the semi-final showcase.
The 2025 “Golden Age Cup” National Senior Arts Performance is funded by the Beijing OUC Education Foundation and strongly supported by Taikang Life Insurance Co., Ltd., Beijing Taikang Yicai Public Welfare Foundation, Bell & Horn Education and Technology Beijing Co., Ltd., China Education Network Television and other partners. The programme covers eight categories – vocal music, dance, instrumental music, traditional opera, recitation, fashion design & model display, soft-brush calligraphy and traditional Chinese painting. Nearly 9,000 works were submitted by around 40,000 participants; after tiered selection, 1,291 works have progressed to the semi-final stage.
