To promote the traditional virtues of respecting and caring for the elderly, the Weigongcun Campus of the Seniors University of China (SUC) and the Retirement Office of the Open University of China (OUC) jointly hosted a series of activities themed "Learning Makes Life Better" on 10 October 2024, in celebration of the Double Ninth Festival.

Over 60 retired faculty members and students from the Weigongcun Campus participated in the event.

During the "Autumn and Winter Scarf Fashion Matching" activity, participants, under the careful guidance of instructors, learned various scarf styling techniques and enthusiastically showcased their skills on stage, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere. In the flower arrangement activity, instructors led participants in creating floral art pieces that were both full of individuality and autumn charm, adorning the festival with the fragrance of flowers. The activities not only demonstrated the students’ strong thirst for knowledge at the Weigongcun Campus, but also reflected their love and pursuit of a beautiful life, adding a rich cultural atmosphere to the Double Ninth Festival.

The "Comprehensive Protection: Smartphone Security Application Public Welfare Lecture" brought by Huawei School provided practical guidance on smartphone security, helping participants enjoy smart life while safeguarding their digital security. This is yet another positive practice by the SUC's Weigongcun Campus in advancing digital empowerment in elderly education.

This series of activities for the Double Ninth Festival was not only a transfer of knowledge and skills but also an exchange of emotions and culture, fully showcasing the vibrant and positive mental outlook of the elderly students. In the future, the Seniors College of the SUC will continue to uphold the educational philosophy of "Virtue, Learning, Health, Happiness, and Accomplishment", and organised a variety of characteristic theme activities, allowing every student to gain knowledge and experience the splendor of learning here.
