To further deepen the integration of science and education as well as industry and education, and to robustly advance the national strategy for digital education, thereby shaping a new quality paradigm of open education and serving the development of a learning society, recently Wang Qiming, the Party secretary and president of the Open University of China (OUC), led a delegation to the headquarters of iFLYTEK Co., Ltd. in Hefei, Anhui Province and to Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. in Shenzhen.

During these visits, strategic cooperation intentions were established with both iFLYTEK and Huawei. OUC aims to leverage the distinct strengths of each party, focusing on the digitalisation of education, cultivation of innovative multi-disciplinary professionals, and advancements in digital technologies. Through this collaboration, all parties intend to jointly champion a new structure for lifelong education empowered by digital intelligence.

During his speech, Wang Qiming expressed gratitude towards iFLYTEK and Huawei for their longstanding support of OUC’s reform and development initiatives. He highlighted that the timing for these strategic cooperations is opportune and aligns well with the school's commitment to implementing the national digital education strategy. He emphasised the principles of "long-term cooperation, mutual promotion, coordinated development, and mutual benefits", which are crucial in harnessing and mobilising both academic and corporate resources to foster collaborative innovations. These efforts aim to enhance the quality of open education, strengthen universities for seniors, pioneer a digital university, and reshape the educational ecosystem to contribute significantly towards building a strong educational system, a learning society and country.

Wu Xiaoru, president of iFLYTEK, thanked OUC for their trust and support over the years. He discussed how iFLYTEK has committed to empowering the digital transformation of higher education through AI technologies and revolutionising talent development models. Wu expressed eagerness for deeper cooperation in AI curriculum construction, talent cultivation, digital infrastructure, innovative smart teaching applications, and AI-enhanced managerial services for faculty and students, aiming to nurture talent suited for the digital age and set benchmarks for 'AI + Education'.

Li Junfeng delivered a speech.

Li Junfeng, vice president of Huawei and president of Huawei Public Business Sector, also acknowledged the enduring support from OUC. He noted that Huawei has long been dedicated to the education sector, consistently making significant investments in information technology, and holds distinct advantages in its comprehensive digital industry chain layout. Li outlined Huawei’s readiness to explore a collaborative education and training mechanism, build a digital foundation for education, develop smart campuses, expand digital education internationally, and engage in strategic branding and ecological partnerships. These initiatives are designed to facilitate OUC’s digital transformation and cultivate digitally proficient professionals to empower diverse industries.

The strategic partnerships with leading industry players like iFLYTEK and Huawei symbolise a significant step towards constructing a modern 'one core, multiple wings' framework for establishing a digital university. This will support the flourishing development of digital education in China and continually supply the 'talent dynamics' essential for realising the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.
