To thoroughly study and implement the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, build a high-quality teaching force for the new era, and fulfil the mission of making the teaching workforce the primary resource for a leading country in education and an important guarantee for a talent-strong nation, the Department of Student Affairs and Teacher Development of the Open University of China (OUC) organised 21 faculty members to attend a special training programme on "Enhancing Teaching and Research Capabilities and Development Initiative of Integrating Ideological and Political Education into Curriculum" at Tsinghua University from 27 to 30 July 2024.
Hosted by the School of Continuing Education at Tsinghua University, the training programme brought together teachers from 10 universities nationwide, including the OUC, Guizhou University, and Xi'an Polytechnic University. The programme featured a variety of formats such as forming mixed team, thematic sharing, on-site teaching, team learning, and guided morning reading, offering a rich and diverse learning experience.
Professor Chen Jiang from Peking University delivered a vivid presentation titled "Empowering Future Education with AI: Deep Integration and Practice of AI in the Classroom," showcasing the combination of AI technology and education. Professors Yang Jing, Yin Yajun, Mou Peng, Zhu Yongfa, and Song Cheng from Tsinghua University presented thematic reports and conducted interactive teaching sessions on topics including "Integrating Ideological and Political Education into Professional Courses: Thoughts and Practices," "Critical Thinking in Instructional Design," "Theories and Practices of Top-Tier Curriculum Development: How to Create an Excellent Course," "Research Projects and Fund Applications," and "Academic Research, Paper Writing, and Publication Skills for University Faculty."
The participating teachers expressed that the training programme was closely aligned with the forefront of educational development, incorporating digital concepts and methods into classroom instruction. Through active exchanges, the programme stimulated deep thinking about open education teaching, resulting in significant gains for all attendees.
