Recently, the Fourth Online Oil Painting Exhibition of the Open University of China (OUC) was unveiled at the Heilongjiang Art Museum.
The opening ceremony and symposium were hosted by Professor Tang Yingshan from the School of Art at the OUC. Participants included students from the Beijing Le Ling Study Tour Oil Painting Class and the National Online Oil Painting Community.
The exhibition featured works by students from the Beijing Le Ling Study Tour Oil Painting Class and the National Online Oil Painting Community. The exhibition hall was bustling with visitors, creating a lively atmosphere.
Professor Tang Yingshan highlighted that this exhibition is the result of a deep collaboration and meticulous planning between the OUC and the Heilongjiang Art Museum, based on their shared goal of public art education. A total of 93 paintings by 89 artists were exhibited, including 31 pieces capturing the scenic beauty of Harbin, reflecting the city's positive impression on the global Chinese community. The average age of the participants is 53, hailed from 19 provinces and cities in China, as well as from countries such as New Zealand, Switzerland, and Japan. All participants are beginners in oil painting, with learning durations ranging from three months to five years. Professor Tang Yingshan introduced that the online oil painting community's teaching team, with 30 years of experience in remote art education, has developed a teaching model suitable for beginners. This model has benefited an increasing number of oil painting enthusiasts. To date, 5.8 million individuals worldwide have participated, with 41,000 registered learners.
Wen Shuyu, director of the Comprehensive Management Centre of the Seniors University of China (SUC); Shi Zhengjun, vice chairman and secretary-general of the Heilongjiang Artists Association; Liu Jianguo, Party secretary of Harbin Open University; Zhang Tiejun, vice president of Heilongjiang Open University; and Fu Yu, deputy director of the Public Education Department of Heilongjiang Art Museum, delivered speeches respectively. They expressed high praise and support for the exhibition, acknowledging the online oil painting teaching team's efforts in promoting art and public art education. They highlighted the exhibition's role in providing a convenient and high-quality platform for senior art education, embodying the educational philosophy of lifelong learning without boundaries.
During the exhibition, students were visibly excited to see their oil paintings displayed in a provincial art museum. The exhibition greatly encouraged the students, enhancing their love for oil painting and their pursuit of beauty. Professor Tang Yingshan provided individual critiques of the exhibited works on-site.
Many young visitors also attended the exhibition, where they enthusiastically copied their favourite oil paintings.
The exhibition will be open until July 31.
