On the first day of the new semester, the "Go Deep into Life, Take Root in the People – NCPA’s 100 Public Welfare Performances" event was held at the Senior University of China (SUC), providing an unforgettable inaugural lesson in aesthetic education for the fall term.
Over 100 attendees, including the head of the Activity Centre of the Bureau for Retired Personnel at the Ministry of Education, the director of the Department of Retirement Work of the OUC, the leader of the OUC School for Older Adults, staff from other relevant departments, students from the OUC Weigongcun Campus, and representatives of teachers and students from the Ministry of Education's University for the Elderly, were present at the performance.
The artists performed an extensive repertoire of over 10 popular songs. Following this, students from the advanced "Music Reading and Singing" class at the Weigongcun Campus of SUC joined the NCPA artists on stage to collaboratively perform "My Motherland and I." The concert concluded to thunderous applause, leaving the audience deeply engrossed in the art of vocal performance.
The initiative "Go Deep into Life, Take Root in the People – NCPA’s 100 Public Welfare Performances" is an ongoing community outreach programme spearheaded by the NCPA throughout the year. Leveraging the talents of its resident artists, the NCPA presents an array of refined artistic performances—including chorus, chamber music, drama, and vocals—to diverse audiences. These performances are hosted in various settings, such as community centres, schools, universities, research institutes, military bases, government agencies, and corporate institutions, thereby fulfilling the burgeoning cultural and spiritual needs of the public. Through its visit to SUC, the NCPA granted students intimate exposure to the transformative power of music, thus opening a new gateway to the arts in their lives.
The SUC, committed to "cultivating virtue, pursuing lifelong learning, proactively maintaining health, embracing a joyful life, and achieving positive accomplishments," aims to leverage the collective strength of the education system and societal resources, while capitalizing on digitalisation trends. This initiative serves the national strategy by promoting a society focused on lifelong learning for all, thereby contributing to the development of a learning-driven, powerful country. This activity represents a significant endeavour by the OUC to integrate and develop aesthetic education specifically for the elderly demographic.
