On 28 August 2023, Wang Qiming, secretary of the Party Committee and president of the Open University of China (OUC), undertook research at the Guizhou Branch. Accompanying him were Fan Xianrui, a member of the Party Committee, as well as vice president of the OUC, among others.

A symposium was convened, attended by the leadership of the Guizhou Open University (Guizhou Branch), including Song Guangqiang, secretary of the Party Committee, and Tang Jian, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and president, among others.

The delegation led by Wang Qiming conducted an on-site visit to an open practical training center that synergizes Guizhou's civil aviation industry with education. They also reviewed work reports from the Guizhou Branch concerning the integrated development of open education and vocational education, the progress of industrial college development, specialty and curriculum enhancement, and talent training, among other areas.

Tang Jian welcomed the research team and expressed appreciation for the ongoing support and interest from the OUC headquarters. Song Guangqiang presented a work report, emphasising the execution of the OUC Comprehensive Reform Plan and the dual development of "degree + ability" for rural cadres in Guizhou Province.

Wang Qiming acknowledged the accomplishments of the Guizhou Branch in its reform and development, and engaged in discussions with relevant stakeholders concerning the development orientation and implementation strategies for open universities.
