Recently, a team led by Cao Guoyong, the executive deputy secretary of the OUC Party Committee, embarked on a research mission to Zhejiang and Fujian provinces.
The team conducted investigations with a focus on "high-quality development of open education," employing methods such as holding seminars in the local regions and undertaking field trips.

A field trip to Yuantou Village, a pilot village for common prosperity site in Yongjia County
From 17th to 18th May, upon their arrival in Zhejiang, Cao hosted a seminar in Wenzhou City, engaging in in-depth discussions with Lu Wenhui, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Zhejiang Open University, Li Qun, Party Committee Secretary of Ningbo Open University, Wu Ting, Party Committee secretary of Wenzhou Open University, and other faculty members. Cao and the team also visited Yuantou Village in Yongjia County, a pilot village for common prosperity, and a talent cultivation project called "ten-hundred-thousand", where they exchanged ideas with Chen Xiaojing, a student from Yongjia School, OUC, NPC deputy, and the Village-level Party Committee secretary of Yuantou Village, a leader for common prosperity of Zhejiang villages.

A field trip to Ningde Contemporary Amperex Technology Limited
From 19th to 20th May, Cao and his team visited Ningde Open University, Fuding Open University, and Xiapu Open University upon their arrival in Fujian. Cao also hosted a seminar in Fujian, engaging in in-depth communication with Ma Chengbing, the deputy Party Committee secretary of Fujian Open University, Ye Zugeng, the Party Committee secretary and president of Ningde Open University, and other faculty members from local open universities. Cao and his team also visited the practical training site for tea arts and culture of Fujian Open University, specifically, Fujian Fuding Mingshan Tea Co. Ltd. Additionally, they visited Ningde Contemporary Amperex Technology Limited, a company that has sponsored the "Action Plan for Realising Dreams of Further Education" initiative provided by Fujian Open University, where they exchanged ideas with Wang Hongmei, an NPC deputy, senior technician in the company, and a student of OUC.
During the investigations, Cao and his team visited and met with frontline faculty, students, and other employees, making efforts to understand their contributions to promoting high-quality development and seeking their comments and advice on the matter. Cao emphasized the essential role of open education in the national education system. He stressed the importance of pursuing high-quality development, prioritizing the task of "fostering virtue through education," and continuously improving the level of education by addressing questions such as "what kind of people should we cultivate" and "how." Furthermore, he highlighted the need to innovate talent cultivation methods to meet the demands of local economic and social development. Cao also emphasized the importance of communication and coordination, actively harnessing various educational resources to provide the necessary infrastructure and support for high-quality development.
Cao emphasized that management at all levels of the system should prioritize addressing underlying issues related to teaching, particularly focusing on key factors such as classrooms, textbooks, and various teaching resources. Additionally, he stressed the importance of strengthening the professional ethics of teachers and staff, providing a solid foundation to ensure the successful execution of their responsibilities in every aspect.
Cao emphasized that open universities at various levels should come together to collectively determine how to promote the high-quality development of the OUC's running system, while keeping in mind the overall requirements of thematic education. It is crucial to define the relevant goals, strategies, and measures. Cao also emphasized the importance of learning from past experiences, working collaboratively, and seizing strategic and opportune moments to make new contributions to the establishment of a society and country where lifelong learning is pursued by all.
