On March 10th, 2023, the Open University of China (OUC)held a seminar for joint training of graduate students in Public Administration with Beijing Jiaotong University (BJU).
Guo Hai, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of BJU, Cai Yun, secretary of the Labour Economics Department of the BJU’s School of Economics and Management, and two master's students participating in the joint training were invited to the OUC. Cao Guoyong, executive deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the OUC, Li Song, vice president, and Zhang Xia, dean of the OUC’s Faculty of Education, attended the seminar for joint training of teachers and students.
Cao Guoyong and Guo Hai had in-depth discussions on leveraging the advantages of cross-disciplinary mentor teams in joint training, promoting the construction of disciplines and specialties on both sides, and continuously improving the quality of talent training.
Cai Yun, a mentor from BJU, introduced the current situation of the enrolment, course study, and research topics of two master's students, as well as the training process, graduation requirements, and major employment prospects for master's students in Public Administration at BJU.
Both sides discussed the implementation details and regular working mechanism of joint training for graduate students, exchanged views on the teaching and learning process of graduate courses, the proposal stage, mid-term review, pre-defense, and social practice. The joint training mentors also put forward requirements and suggestions for the two students' learning, research, and daily life.
