On the afternoon of 17 March 2023, Cai Guoying, the former vice chairman of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Political Consultative Conference and the president of Ningxia University for Older Adults, visited the Open University of China (also known as the Seniors University of China - SUC) for a discussion and exchange.

Liu Chen, the deputy secretary of the university's Party Committee, attended the event and held a discussion with Cai Guoying and his delegation on the establishment of the SUC, its educational system, informatisation, and platform construction.

Liu Chen, on behalf of the university's Party Committee, warmly welcomed Cai Guoying and his delegation. He pointed out that Ningxia University for Older Adults, as the second senior university established in China, has created a unique "4 bases + 1 team" work model that reflects the characteristics of senior education in Ningxia and is a benchmark for senior universities nationwide. He stated that the SUC should actively cooperate with other senior universities such as Ningxia University for Older Adults, and provide good support and services in information platform construction and curriculum resource sharing, fully considering the characteristics and advantages of different provinces, jointly promoting the extension of senior education coverage, activating county-level senior universities, and truly realising the goal of bringing senior universities to the doorstep of senior citizens.

Cai Guoying pointed out that the education system is the main channel for organising senior education, and the establishment of the SUC has injected new vitality into the development of senior education. Since its establishment in 1984, Ningxia University for Older Adults has played a demonstrative and leading role in senior education in the autonomous region. In the future, Ningxia University for Older Adults will actively cooperate with the SUC in informatisation construction, high-quality resource sharing, and standardized senior education, integrating into the SUC's educational system, making full use of both sides' strengths, and promoting the development of senior education more effectively.

Xue Yinli, the director of the Service Centre of Ningxia University for Older Adults, introduced the university's situation and achievements in education during the exchange. Wu Shuping, the deputy director of the Information Technology Department of the OUC, introduced the informatisation construction of the OUC. Responsible personnel from the School of Older Adults of the OUC introduced the development of senior education, the construction of the national public service platform for senior education, and the research on senior education conducted by the OUC.
