In order to strengthen teaching at the Open University of China (OUC) and help foster virtue through education, the OUC held its 2,206th workshop for backbone Accounting teachers on 10 and 11 November 2022.
This workshop was hosted by the OUC Department of Student Affairs and Teacher Development, and undertaken by the OUC Faculty of Economics and Management. 476 teachers from the OUC headquarters and branches registered for it, a record number.
The workshop took place via livestream, and featured lecturers including Prof. Xiao Xing, a star teacher in the School of Economics and Management at Tsinghua University; Prof. Zhou Hua, a senior professor at Renmin Business School; Prof. Zhong Aijun of Wuhan Business University, a vocational college; and associate Prof. Yang Shijian of the OUC.
The workshop included active online discussions among the teachers and with the experts. Participants found the workshop rich in content, professional, clear and practical, giving them new ideas for integrating curriculum-based ideological and political education into specialised courses and deepening their understanding of the design of the courses Accounting Practices, Application of Excel in Financial Analysis, and Taxation Practices. They also learnt new teaching strategies and methodologies.
Through this workshop, the OUC has strengthened teacher cohesion, enhanced the ability of the teaching team, and promoted the high-quality development of Accounting at the OUC.
