As announced in the document “The decision of awarding 'The Gardener Award for Special Education by Bank of Communications' to 201 comrades including Liu Jianping”(CDPF Office [2013] No.7), issued jointly by the General Office of the China Disabled Persons’ Federation (CDPF) and the General Office of the Ministry of Education (MOE), Qu Wei, Vice President of Shenzhen School for the Disabled of the OUC, together with Yang Guobin, Vice President of the Inner Mongolia School for the Disabled of the OUC were awarded “The Gardener Award for Special Education by Bank of Communications” for the year of 2013.
The award of “The Gardener Award for Special Education by Bank of Communications” is conducted jointly by the MOE and the CDPF, with the objective of selecting outstanding teachers in the field of national special education, and to propagate and commend excellence in special education teachers’ meritorious conduct, encouraging them to value their jobs and make a selfless contribution, so as to promote actively the fast development of special education during the “12th Five-Year Plan”. This activity is held yearly. In 2013, 201 special education teachers nationwide received this award. It is the fourth time that the OUC (China Central Radio and TV University) has taken part in the award activity and seven people from the OUC system have successively been given awards.
Since the establishment of Shenzhen School for the Disabled in 2004, Qu Wei has undertaken teaching and managerial work in the education of the disabled. He has shown good political and professional qualities, outstanding teaching and management performance and notable achievements in scientific research, and has been awarded the title of “Outstanding Teacher” many times by Shenzhen Radio and TV University.
As Vice President of the Inner Mongolia School for the Disabled, Yang Guobin has led all teachers and staff in giving support and encouragement and done monumental work for the education of the disabled in Inner Mongolia. The School has been elected as the demonstration teaching school for the disabled of the OUC. Besides undertaking busy administration work, he has also worked as a ‘coal face’ teacher, who was a good friend and teacher to many of his students. He has thus gained love and esteem from the great majority of teachers and students in the School.
Peng Tao is the Vice President of Chengdong School, directly under Chengdu Radio and TV University, as well as Vice President of Chengdu School for the Disabled of the OUC. Since 2003 he has undertaken the work of the education of the disabled and has done a large amount of work for the foundation of the School, professional development and management, specialized teaching for the disabled and humane care for students. He has steadfastly contributed his absolute sincerity and loving heart to carry on the teaching of the disabled.
