On September 21st, the OUC (CCRTVU) Secondary Technical School held its 2013 Opening Ceremony and Scholarship Awards Ceremony at Wukesong Campus of the OUC. Scholarships were presented to 89 students with excellent academic records. Certificates were given to scholarship winners by Zhang Hui, vice president of the OUC and president of the OUC (CCRTVU) Secondary Technical School, Fu Jianjun, dean of the OUC (CCRTVU) Secondary Technical School; and Lei Hongqi, vice dean of the OUC (CCRTVU) Secondary Technical School. Chinese and mathematics course-teaching video discs were presented to branch school leaders.

In recent years, the OUC (CCRTVU) Secondary Technical School has continued to increase the intensity of its teaching reforms, capitalized on its cooperation with enterprises, alternated between working and learning, and enhanced the flexibility of its learning system. The school actively adapts to market demands and has established more than 80 majors. At the same time, the school actively explores joint schooling with the industrial associations, enterprises, and other schools. It currently has 29 branch schools and more than 80 study centres. There are 259,435 students enrolled in the OUC (CCRTVU) Secondary Technical School.
Zhang Hui introduced the development plan and perspective of the OUC to representatives present at the ceremonies, while also putting forward three wishes to branch school leaders and students: First, it is hoped that all branch schools uphold the mantra of “service first, education supreme”; Second, it is hoped that teachers at different levels will raise awareness about service among all students to foster progressive innovation, commitment to lifelong learning, and continuous self-improvement, as well as founding a sense of responsibility toward education for the country; Third, it is hoped that students study hard and succeed in their special field of study.
A freshmen representative delivered a speech expressing his dreams and longing for a better future. He said his wish was to “make the most of youth and strive to become a versatile talent who can contribute to the development of society.” Another representative delivered a speech recounting the struggle of studying under difficult circumstances and the fruitful results that come from perseverance. After the ceremony concluded, representatives visited the “Deep Integration of Information Technology and Education” school history exhibition and library, as well as the Credit Bank Management Office (Credit Accreditation Centre) of the OUC.
Fu Jianjun said that the 2013 Opening Ceremony and Scholarship Awards Ceremony aimed to further strengthen the cohesive power of the OUC (CCRTVU) Secondary Technical School, sense of belonging among students, and school study style and spirit. Fu also stressed the importance of exploring effective connection mechanisms for secondary and senior technical schools and the learner-formation model in order to actively advance vocational education as an organic part of education at the OUC.
More than 260 people attended the ceremonies, including leaders from relevant departments of the OUC, branch school leaders of the OUC (CCRTVU) Secondary Technical School, and freshmen students and scholarship winners.
