WANG Jing, Han ethnicity, is a deputy to the 14th National People's Congress (NPC). She currently serves as President of Hanzhong Open University, member of the Hanzhong Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference in Shaanxi Province, Vice Chairperson of the Shaanxi Provincial Committee of the China Association for Promoting Democracy (CAPD), and member of the Education Committee of the 15th Central Committee of CAPD.

As an NPC deputy, WANG has actively advocated for open education, vocational education, elderly education, and learning society construction in Shaanxi. Last year, she proposed recommendations on improving the quality of skilled technical talent cultivation. This year, she has turned her attention to elderly education.

WANG noted that elderly education is an important measure in building an age-friendly society. She hopes to break development bottlenecks through institutional innovation, promote high-quality development of elderly education, and provide strong support for the national strategy of proactively responding to population ageing.

At this year's Two Sessions, WANG suggests building a "15-minute learning circle" to satisfy older adults’ needs for learning close to home. She explained that older learners prefer to study near where they live, which is why such a model is needed.

How to meet elderly learning needs at their doorstep? In today's era of information and artificial intelligence, with so many digital tools available, how should older adults learn? WANG proposed that, on one hand, the formulation of national regulations promoting elderly education should be accelerated and relevant management bodies should be clarified, so that providers can fully provide learning platforms for elderly learners to satisfy their "15-minute learning circle" needs at closer distance. On the other hand, universities with adequate conditions should be encouraged to establish teaching teams suited to elderly learners' characteristics, enabling hundreds of millions of older adults to enjoy their golden years.
