To further promote the thematic education campaign focused on studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the Open University of China (OUC) organised a recitation event centered around the theme of "Gaining Strength from Reading Classics".

The event aimed to facilitate an exchange of learning experiences through reading, while creating a conducive learning atmosphere. This event was a crucial component of the OUC reading month and took place on April 27, 2023. Jing Degang, secretary of the Party Committee and president of the OUC, Liu Chen, deputy secretary of the Party Committee, and Li Song and Fan Xianrui, both members of the OUC Party Committee and vice presidents, were in attendance at the event.

15 teams including staff from Party Committee Office/President's Office, Faculty of Humanities, Department of External Education and Training presented their well-prepared recitations, expressing their genuine feelings with the most beautiful voices, describing the splendidness of life with the most beautiful articles, demonstrating the cultural heritage of the OUC with the most beautiful reading, which interpreted the endeavour and hard work, persistence and dedication of the educators in the new era.  

This event aligns with the tenets of learning through critical thinking, and the integration of knowledge, beliefs, and practice. It reflects the phased achievements of the OUC in its thematic education efforts.

The event also featured expert judges who provided on-site comments.

Based on the scores given by the expert judges, three first prizes, five second prizes, seven third prizes, and 12 excellence awards were awarded.
