Profile

Ma Shigong, a member of the Sala ethnic minority group, is a member of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and serves as a deputy to the 14th National People’s Congress (NPC).

He is also Party branch secretary and director of the Committee of Suhusa Village in the city of Haidong, Qinghai Province. In 2020, he enrolled in the Grassroots Cadre Educational Improvement Class, as part of the programme in Rural Administrative Management at Qinghai Open University (OU).

After listening to the government work report of the NPC and Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Ma Shigong promised to deliver good news from the Two Sessions back to his hometown. He has vowed to lead his people, who belong to the “Land of Lanzhou Beef Noodles,” by following the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the CPC and the Two Sessions. To do this, he aims to promote the development of Lanzhou beef noodle industrial chains and expand business to other regions in China and overseas.

Ma has proposed that the state further strengthen financial and industrial support for ethnic minority areas as well as set up development funds for industries with ethnic characteristics. He has called for the continued support and expansion of the planting and breeding industries, the Lanzhou beef noodle industry, and ethnic tourism. It is hoped this would strengthen the competitiveness of ethnic industries and improve the working and living conditions of people in ethnic minority areas.
