Editor's note: In the Gengzi New Year, a war without arms started nationwide. At a time when families should be reunited, a group of OUC students mobilised to help Wuhan and rescue patients there!
The white-robed angels whose deeds have moved people all over the country say: "We are called "warriors", but have chosen this profession, and it is our duty to help fight the epidemic! We shall dedicate ourselves to the interests of the country over our personal interests".
Why are so many taking part in this struggle? Let's pay tribute to them, and tell their stories.
Su Xiaorong, a student at the Wuzhong campus of the Ningxia Branch, graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing in the autumn of 2019, and found work as a nurse in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Ningxia Wuzhong People's Hospital. As the current epidemic became more intense, she took the initiative to apply to go to the frontlines in support of the citizens of Wuhan, standing out from among the 284 other registered nurses on staff for her rich clinical experience. On 28 January, she accompanied the Ningxia Wuzhong medical team to the Dongjin Hospital Campus ICU at Hubei's Xiangyang Central Hospital, and was responsible for the treatment and care of the patients under her charge every day. Since most of the patients in the ICU are critically ill, she is on call 24 hours a day.
After a day of work, despite her fatigue, and the discomfort of wearing protective clothing, Su Xiaorong's anxiety for her patients remains unabated. Her biggest wish is to help overcome the epidemic as soon as possible, heal her patients, and do her part to bring back the bright, warm sunshine.
Liu Ningxian graduated from the Wuzhong campus of the Ningxia Branch with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing in the autumn of 2015, and is employed as head nurse of the delivery room of the Wuzhong People's Hospital; she is a member of the Communist Party of China, and signed up on 25th January (lunar New Year’s Day) to work in the fever clinics of the Infectious Diseases Department of the hospital, offering medical consultations.

To reduce the risk of infection, long-haired nurses have cut hair that they had grown for years. After entering the isolation ward, although it has only one door, in order to conserve medical items such as protective clothing, and reduce their numbers of entries and exits, medical staff use walkie-talkies to communicate.

She also gives them guidance on disinfection, and conducts triage work such as taking body temperatures.
