Luo Renjuan: a full-time official at the sub-street office who serves people with a "three hearts" working method
Luo Renjuan has level-2 physical disabilities, and is a full-time official for the disabled at the Yunshan sub-street office in Lianyun District, Lianyungang City. In her position, she serves people with a "three hearts" work method: have a dedicated heart to work, have a keen heart for a career, and have a passionate love for the disabled. This “three hearts” method fulfills her commitment to working and being responsible. Over the years, she has insisted on helping the poor, assisting the needy, and serving the disabled. At the beginning of her tenure, she visited every disabled person’s household to carry out a basic informational survey to establish and improve the database. When she learned that Wu Su got a thigh amputation, but was afraid of falling and dared not wear artificial limbs, preferring a wheelchair rather than walking, Luo Renjuan thought, "A child learning to walk cannot escape continuously falling." Therefore, she actively applied for free prosthetics, and taught Wu Su how to wear prosthetics, using her own experience, as well as how to coordinate walking-related movement. With her patience and help, Wu Su finally got used to the prosthetics and even learned to ride an electric bike. Wu Su is only one of the beneficiaries of Luo Renjuan’s “three hearts” assistance. Many people have started a business or began a job thanks to her help. In the Yunshan sub-district street region, there are a total of 73 disabled people capable of employment, and this region now has an employment rate of 95%.
In a competitive society, only through constantly learning, improving ourselves, and accumulating knowledge can we adapt to rapid modern development. Luo Renjuan took the initiative to register for an undergraduate degree in Social Work at Lianyungang RTVU, as well as teach herself psychology and rehabilitation-related nursing knowledge. In 2012, she entered employment instructor training for disabled people. The systematic training makes her work useful. In 2013, she was awarded the "Best Hardworking and Diligent Youth" of "Jiangsu 100 Youth Models," a contest jointly organized by the provincial civil office, provincial youth league committee, and other institutions. Looking back upon the hard work over the past few years, she felt immensely proud. Serving the disabled is a very fulfilling job. However, there is a long way to go in helping the disabled. As one of the members of the assistance team, she often tells herself that life is long, and her work has only just begun. She must keep up with the times, adhere to a professional ethical code of "humanity, integrity, service, and dedication," and strive to encourage "equality, participation, and sharing." Only by pursuing one’s dream bravely, and insisting on that dream, can we enable the disabled to share the same blue sky as rapidly as possible!
