Lin Zhaoshui, Chairman of the Board of Zhejiang Yuhuan Volcano Tea Joint-stock Cooperate Farm, NPC Representative of Yuhuan County, and student of the Yuhuan Institute, was recently selected for the cover of the August 2014 Issue of “China New Countryside Monthly”. His story was reported with the headline “Leader of New Countryside Construction — Lin Zhaoshui” in the “Special Reports” column.
Lin Zhaoshui is a villager from Xiang’e Village at Damaiyu Street in Yuhuan County, and a real son of farmer. After he graduated from junior high school, he went to work in the county, and in 2003 he established Lianfeng Building Material Company, which was renamed as Taizhou Xinfeng Steel Co., Ltd. in 2007. In order to change the old-fashioned appearance of the village and help the villagers to live a better life, he resolved to come back to the village and start his agriculture-related business. In 2009, he founded the Yuhuan Volcano Tea Base and established Yuhuan County Shifeng Mountain Agriculture Technology Co., Ltd. Relying on the China Tea Society and the resources of colleges and universities, he combined the precious natural resources of sea island volcanoes and developed high-quality “Yuhuan Volcano Tea”. In 2014, “Yuhuan Volcano Tea” won the gold medal award at the Zhejiang Green Tea Fair and became a real “Zhejiang Gold Card”.
At present, the Yuhuan Volcano Tea Centre has spread out over an area of more than 800 Mu. His tea can sell for prices ranging from RMB 1,000 to 60,000 per kilo. Villagers with a share in the Zhejiang Yuhuan Volcano Tea Joint-stock Cooperate Farm can recoup their initial investment in the first year, together with dividends allotted to collectives.
Lin Zhaoshui has also become a youth pioneer who became prosperous in the villages of Zhejiang, a member of Taizhou Youth Federation, and Vice Chairman of Youth Enterprise Association of Yuhuan County. At the 2013 Zhejiang Agricultural Fair, Lin Zhaoshui won the praise and support from the then Executive Vice Governor Cai Qi and Vice Governor Huang Xuming.
