On December 6, Haidian Community College became OUC's 45th community education experiential learning center. The unveiling ceremony was attended by Zhang Shaogang, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the OUC, Qiao Jian, deputy secretary of the Education Committee of Haidian District, and Pan Sifa, executive vice president of Haidian Community College. 

In accordance with the policy outlined in “CCRTVU's Commitment to Promoting Community Education and Establishing Experiential Centers” and after review of applications from regional RTVUs by experts and the relevant departments, this new center was established to actively promote community education and implement the agenda of "Constructing A Lifelong Learning System, Forming A Learning-Oriented Society". 

Haidian Community College abides by the principles of “openness, cooperation, service” and implements the strategic plan of “one body, two wings” to provide customized degree education. At the same time, it focuses on high-quality community education and various non-degree education, all in an effort to continually deepen teaching and learning reform. It integrates high-quality educational resources at all levels and takes the "Ivy" community-based lifelong learning system as a vehicle to create the “Community Education Experiential Learning Center”.

Zhang Shaogang visited the “Community Education Experiential Learning Center” and fully affirmed their achievements in the area of community education in recent years. He expressed the hope that the Ministry of Education Community Education Research and Training Center could use this center as a model to train more personnel in the operation and implementation of this form of education. He further elaborated that through such community education programmes, Haidian Community College's “Community Education Experiential Learning Center” could further take advantage of accumulating educational resources, vigorously explore new cultural industry and cultural education, strive to build a flagship brand in the cultural education and service area that covers community experiential learning, cultural and creative industries, entrepreneurial education. By exploring new operating mechanism and model, Haidian Community College could make further contribution to community education.

Background:

Situated in Beijing's Haidian District, and based on the Zhongguancun Institute model, the “Ivy” community-based lifelong learning system seeks to provide the Haidian community with educational courses, support in how to carry out learning, support in how to use educational resources, service management, and digital learning platform. This system benefits employees of government departments and enterprises, youth, community residents, rural residents, and migrant workers in Haidian district.
