To actively advance the national-level ideological and political education demonstration project and the development of teaching teams, fully leverage collective wisdom to enhance teaching quality, achieve tangible results, strengthen demonstration, and innovate the development of ideological and political courses, the Open University of China (OUC) recently held an intensive seminar on the ideological and political education demonstration project for Software Engineering course in Quzhou City, Zhejiang Province.
Bi Ming, president of Quzhou Open University, attended the event and delivered a speech. Yan Chaojun, deputy secretary of the Party Branch of the Teaching Centre of Zhejiang Open University, along with relevant personnel from the School of Science and Engineering and the Academic Affairs Department of the OUC, experts from the Open University system, and members of the project and core course teams participated in the event.
The meeting focused on the theme of advancing the course-based ideological and political education development of the OUC to new heights. Participants discussed the integration of ideological and political elements, the design of ideological and political education in courses, and the development of a case library for ideological and political education. The consensus reached was that the development of course-based ideological and political education should not only emphasise theoretical education but also stress practical application. By integrating ideological and political elements into science and engineering courses, students can deeply understand and practice the core socialist values while learning professional knowledge.
The Software Engineering course team conducted collective lesson preparation for key chapters of the Software Engineering course. Five teachers from the project team, namely Teng Huaijiang from Heilongjiang Open University, Jiang Xiujiang from Shandong Open University, Chen Wei from Qingdao Open University, Sun Yimin from Bingtuan Open University, and Zhang Yaomin from Shaanxi Open University, gave presentations, demonstrated teaching methods, and shared their experiences on integrating ideological and political elements, introducing cases, and designing and incorporating ideological and political education into the courses. The team members expressed that through this collective lesson preparation activity, they enhanced their educational concepts of course-based ideological and political education, mastered the techniques of integrating ideological and political elements, and laid a solid foundation for future teaching work, effectively improving their ability to educate through the courses.
The event employed various methods, including expert lectures, collective lesson preparation, and teaching discussions. It not only promoted the development of the ideological and political education demonstration project for Software Engineering course, but also strengthened the educational function of ideological and political education in courses, improved the quality of talent cultivation, and advanced the high-quality development of the OUC.
