From 6th to 9th June, the Faculty of Agroforestry and Medicine (Rural Revitalisation College) at the Open University of China (OUC) conducted the 2023 Seminar for the Central Teaching and Research Group of Undergraduate Programmes in Pharmacy, Nursing, and Public Service Management in Shenyang, Liaoning Province.
The event was attended by approximately 40 individuals, including vice president of Shenyang RTVU Tang Xiaowei, dean of the OUC Faculty of Agroforestry and Medicine (Rural Revitalisation College) Li Guangde, vice dean Feng Li, Professor Gao Mingqi from China Medical University (CMU), members of the Central Teaching and Research Group from the OUC headquarters and its 17 branches (schools), heads of relevant majors, and core team members of the network teaching. The seminar consisted of two parts: group discussions and on-site teaching and research.
Tang Xiaowei emphasized the importance of organizing a seminar on medical-related majors within the framework of the comprehensive study and implementation of the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress and the promotion of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. He highlighted the significance of such a seminar in the context of building a healthy China and implementing national strategies, particularly in addressing the challenges of population ageing.
Li Guangde provided an overview of the development and accomplishments of the medical-related majors at the OUC headquarters. He discussed the key tasks for the OUC in 2023 and shared the work plans for the Faculty of Agroforestry and Medicine (Rural Revitalisation College). His intention was to drive continuous improvement in major construction and reforms, with the ultimate goal of enhancing the quality of educational teaching.
Gao Mingqi delivered a keynote speech on the "Application of Blended Learning Models Based on Digital Technology in Teaching Medical-related Courses," where he presented various practical examples of its implementation.
The group leader and associate leader of the Central Teaching and Research Group of undergraduate programmes in Pharmacy, Nursing, and Public-service Management, along with the heads of Health Services and Management, Smart Health and Elder-care Services and Management, representative units, and teachers awarded with the Excellent Organizational Award in the 1st Session of the Political and Ideological Teaching Skills Competition of Agroforestry and Medicine Majors, delivered reports at the event. Participants engaged in discussions and exchanges regarding key aspects of the school's work and the seminar's theme, including the implementation of ideological thinking in medical-related courses, discipline and subject development, teaching organization arrangements, team building, practical teaching development, teacher training, research cooperation, and student activity organization.
Participants expressed their satisfaction with the seminar, highlighting its rich and diverse content, as well as the ample opportunities for meaningful exchanges. They acknowledged the seminar as a valuable resource for advancing the high-quality development of medical-related majors and enhancing the quality of talent training.
