The Faculty of Political Science and Law of the Open University of China (OUC) invited Bao Jing, vice chair of and researcher with the Chinese Public Administration Society, to lecture on “modernisation of governance in a changing world” to OUC students and teachers.
Liu Xianghong, deputy secretary of OUC Party Committee, gave a speech, and the event was presided over by Yuan Songhe, vice dean of the OUC Faculty of Political Science and Law.
The lecture was organised by the OUC and its Faculty of Political Science and Law as part of the “Lectures by Famous Teachers from 100 Universities” programme. It was delivered both online and offline, with leaders and teachers from the OUC headquarters attending onsite, and 70 students and teachers watching online.
Bao Jing stressed that vocational education is essential to enhancing vocational development in China, since the modernisation of education embraces that of vocational education. She stated that the digital revolution and the internet thinking are core elements of governance modernisation, and that governance reform should be enhanced in terms of development and security, consistency in domestic and international settings, and forms of digital governance.
The teachers stated that they gained from the lecture a better understanding of the significance of Chinese modernisation in a changing world as well as theoretical and practical innovations in Public-service Management, and would act to implement the high-quality development of the Administration programme in open education.
