On 24 November 2022, the Open University of China (OUC) held the 2022 undergraduate-programme seminar on Public-service Management (School Management, Family Education and Social Education Guidance orientations) to deepen teaching reforms, enhance training, and strengthen the cohesion of the OUC system in constructing this undergraduate programme.

Deputy director Jin Yan of the OUC Academic Affairs Department; Zhang Xia and Zhang Feng, dean and vice dean of the OUC Faculty of Education; Lin Xiuqin and Ma Tengfei, head and deputy head of the School of Education Management; and Professor Wu Chonghan of Jiangxi Normal University attended. 133 people, including staff and teachers of the Public-service Management programme from the OUC headquarters and branches nationwide, participated.

Jin Yan introduced the requirements for major construction at the OUC, pointing out that the Public-service Management major (Family Education and Social Education Guidance orientation) aims to enhance family ties, values and traditions, as the report delivered at the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) indicates. It complies with the Promotion of Family Education Law of the People's Republic of China and the establishment family-education instructor as a new career. The major has good prospects and social value. Zhang Xia introduced the processes, opportunities and challenges of teaching reforms in its construction. She pointed out that we should make full use of the mechanism for joint construction and sharing to integrate quality resources and improve the construction efficiency of course resources; that we should build quality courses by relying on the famous teachers and renowned lectures to satisfy the diversified needs of the students for optional courses; and that we should explore the transfer and mutual recognition of vocational qualification certificates and course credits to realise the integration of degree education and non-degree education, and so on. Xia Jie from the School of Education Management, Faculty of Education, the OUC, reported the new scheme of talent training cultivation of the progamme, and introduced the training orientation and objective of the major, the curriculum system, the specialty distinctions and the enrolment.

Professor Wu Chonghan of Jiangxi Normal University delivered a specialised report on "The Modernity of Family Education". The lecture has stricken a strong chord and warmly responded by the teachers present.

Five branches shared their experience in enrolment and construction of the major.

The seminar has gathered the strength of experts and scholars and the OUC teachers. They have reached a consensus in constructing the major. They have made in-depth exchanges and discussions on the enrolment, construction and teaching reform of the undergraduate programme, which will drive the undergraduate programme construction and talent cultivation constantly towards a new height.
