In order to further implement the OUC Comprehensive Reform Plan and Opinions on Enhancing Education at the OUC, promote integrated practice, bachelor-degree applications, and the quality of education, the Faculty of Agroforestry and Medicine (Rural Revitalisation College) of the Open University of China (OUC) held a workshop for undergraduate Agriculture and Medicine majors on 23 and 24 June 2022.
Prof. Li Guangde, faculty deputy director, addressed the topic of the open-education strategy of “Creating Excellence and Improving Quality” through integrated practice, and introduced in detail the teaching and bachelor-degree applications undertaken at the OUC, as well as the most common questions related to the undergraduate thesis.
Dr. Xiong Ying from the Public Foreign-language Teaching Centre of the Faculty of Foreign Languages gave an interpretation of the syllabus of the unified examination for bachelor degrees in English (non-English majors), an analysis of the results of the degree-English examinations of the 2021 autumn semester, and an introduction to the current status and future orientations of teaching of the course preparing OUC non-English majors for the English examination.
Associate Professor Fu Jinfeng, director of the School of Agriculture and Forestry within the faculty, and associate Professor Tang Yiting, director of the School of Medicine, respectively reviewed the Agriculture and Medicine dissertations.
Heads of the OUC undergraduate major of Horticulture, Rural Regional Development and Landscape Architecture - associate professors Fu Jinfeng, Zhao Tingting and Zhao Liqing - and heads of the OUC undergraduate major of Nursing, Public (Health)-service Management and Pharmacy - associate professors Tang Yiting, Wu Jing and Feng Li - introduced the requirements of integrated practice and degree applications for these majors.
The five teachers shared their experiences teaching Agroforestry & Medicine in their branches or study centres.
The participating teachers and students found the workshop rich, detailed, instructive and pertinent. The sharing of their experiences by teachers from the OUC branches and study centres was very informative. The faculty will continue to offer training to teachers and students, modifying it in accordance with their feedback, and working to enhance the quality not only of the faculty but of open education as a whole.
