In order to enhance the Management Sub-committee of the Academic Committee of the Open University of China (OUC), promote construction of Management-related majors and discipline research at the OUC, and promote collaboration and innovation among high-level research teams, the sub-committee launched academic activities themed "Empower a future led by academic capacities" on 21 April 2022.
These include training on project applications and thesis writing through lectures, academic symposia for young and middle-aged scholars, research on digital transformation of enterprises, and other topics.
The first lecture, available both online and offline, was jointly organised by the sub-committee and the Department of External Education and Training (MOE Research & Training Centre for Community Education), the Academic Affairs Department, the Scientific Research Management Office, and others. Professor Li Jiacheng, a doctoral supervisor at East China Normal University, and executive vice president of the Shanghai Municipal Institute for Lifelong Education, was invited to deliver the keynote speech.
Professor Li shared with the trainees his experience and thoughts concerning the application and development of research related to lifelong education and its use in his teaching in terms of topic selection and design, team formation, and achievements. His lecture was rich yet accessible, and supported by extensive detail.
The participants agreed on the importance of such training for their future research, and expressed the hope that it would launch not only research but also teaching reforms, and contribute to the high-quality development of the OUC.
Some members of the sub-committee as well as representative young doctors and secretaries attended the meeting on-site, while 300 people, including all the teachers in the Faculty of Economics and Management, OUC teachers involved in Management-related disciplines, researchers, teaching-management staff, and community educators, participated online. The meeting was presided over by Du Ruo, deputy director of the sub-committee.
