The OUC recently launched its Annual OUC Scholarship pilot project for 2010. The project will be expanded to 29 provincial radio and TV universities (PRTVUs). In addition to the existed "Field of Hope" Scholarship and the IET-Sunshine Scholarship, the OUC has this year started the Serving Soldier Scholarship.

The pilot units for the OUC scholarships of 2010 include

29 PRTVUs and OUC Experimental School and the School of Tibet. The pilot units for the "Field of Hope" Scholarship are PRTVUs which participate in the "One-College-Student-for-One-Village" programme launched by the Ministry of Education. The IET-Sunshine Scholarship is continuously sponsored by the IET (International Engineering Technology, Inc.) Fund with a grant of 100,000 RMB for physically challenged students at the OUC School for the Disabled. The Serving Solider Scholarship was funded by the OUC. The recipients should be serving soldiers in Bayi School, Zongcan School and the School for the Air Force of the OUC.

The OUC will calculate the number of candidates in proportion to the number of registered students in pilot PRTVUs. The pilot PRTVUs will recommend students according to the quota given by the OUC. The pilot PRTVUs can recommend altogether 6000 candidates to the OUC. The scholarship is RMB 1000 for one person. The total scholarship amounts to RMB 6 million.

The applicants should not only meet the standards in morality, study purpose, credits and academic performance, but also should actively participate in teaching and social practice. They should be helpful and cooperative, able to balance work and study, and good at applying their knowledge in their work.

On the 6th and 7th December 2010, the OUC convened a meeting on annual scholarship pilot projects for 2010. The meeting discussed and amended the implementation plan of the 2010 OUC Annual Scholarship, the "Field of Hope" Scholarship, the IET-Sunshine Scholarship and the Serving Soldier Scholarship. Yan Bing, vice-president of the OUC emphasized that the general requirements for the pilot project are conscientiousness, standardization and meticulousness. The pilot units should follow procedures and requirements, conduct standardized management and operations, and carefully deal with all the details. They should pay attention to the legal rights of the students and strive to get things done in a practical way. Supervision work should be carried out on the whole process and monitoring measures should be formulated accordingly.
