In this course, you will be immersed in a pure English environment to learn practical skills in English writing, reading and speaking relevant to distance education, whilst greatly improving your ability to use English skillfully in this field.
Course Name
English for E-Learning Practitioners (short for EEP) is a professional English course and one of the ten courses derived from the “Three Courses Established by OUC and OUUK”.
Learning Outcomes
Students will achieve the following learning outcomes through this course:
1.Master the most frequently used terms and vocabulary in online education;
2.Be able to read general online education literature;
3.Be able to make simple communication on topics of online education with their international colleagues (both in oral or written forms)
4.Be able to make academic presentations and participate in interactions in international conferences;
5.Be able to raise or answer questions appropriately;
6.Be able to write academic papers according to appropriate norms and standards.
Target Group
This course is targeted at online education professionals, specifically graduates still in regular universities, teachers, administrative personnel, researchers mainly from nationwide RTVUs, online schools of regular higher education universities/continuing education schools/adult education schools, private online education institutions, research institutes etc.
Course Modules
The course curriculum is modular. The course is divided into seven modules and is designed to be completed in seven weeks with 10 study hours per week, making 70 study hours in total. The seven modules are as follows:
Evaluation Methods
1. The evaluation for EEP is entirely implemented and fulfilled online;
2. The evaluation is mainly carried out in the combined forms of Peer Assessment and Tutor-Marked Assignment, with each single module graded separately;
3. The evaluation covers four aspects, i.e. listening, speaking, reading and writing, with emphases on reading and writing.
4. Course language difficulty: intermediate;
5. An Excellent Learner Certificate will be awarded to students with good evaluation results.
