More than 70 teachers who teach classes related to computer science at branches across the country gathered together in Chengdu to attend the OUC's teaching seminar on computer science from May 8th to 9th of 2014.
This meeting was aimed at giving the teachers an introduction to the progress that has been made over the last two years in educational reform within the OUC system, the latest updates to the teaching resources of 15 courses, and discussing the current state of the pilot project “C Language and Program Design”, the first core online course of the School of Engineering.
Vice President of Sichuan RTVU Wei Shengqi addressed the meeting with a welcoming speech. Qiu Qinlun, Secretary General of the CSIA Education and Training Committee, Guo Hong, Director of the OUC School of Engineering, along with Yuan Wei, Vice Director of the OUC School of Engineering, attended the meeting and delivered speeches separately.
Guo Hong introduced the framework of the supporting plan for the training and development of modern industrial workers from four perspectives: school management and operation mechanisms, the pattern of learner formation, majors and curriculum strategy, and teaching methods.
Yuan Wei presented the progress of educational reform in computer science, including the general situation, existing problems, ideas on educational reform, and specific measures to be taken. She put forward seven measures for educational reform: the hierarchy course system, networked teaching contents, mobile course resources, diversified evaluation models, team-oriented teaching staff, cooperation in the construction of the programme, and systematic practical training.
Qiu Qinlun introduced the developing plan for the OUC School of Software from several angles. He covered the objectives and organization of the School, the current situation for software developers in the industry, the challenges faced in training talented software developers, the development plan for the School, and so on.
The teachers from the OUC Computer Department and the participants exchanged information on the latest development of the computer courses. Zhao Yue, a senior lecturer of Easthome Consulting & Service Co. Ltd., was invited to do training on the Production of a Micro-Video at the meeting. The participants also held discussions on the current situation of computer science nationwide and the current implementation of teaching via the web-based pilot course C Language and Program Design, which was the first core Internet course of the semester.
