Recently the Ministry of Education (MOE) website released “2014's Main Points for Education Digitization” (shortened as “the Main Points”). In the release, the working ideas, working approach, core target, and key points of the education digitization work in 2014 were clearly put forward. The OUC, which is directly under the MOE, will undertake three important projects outlined in the directive.
In the field of “pushing on the construction of fundamental conditions for digitization”, the directive requires efforts to be made in the construction of the OUC's information infrastructure, emphasis on the construction of the OUC's smart campus, realize wireless network coverage in teaching buildings, and complete the second phase of the construction of 210 cloud-based classrooms.
In regard to “enlarging coverage of excellent teaching resources”, the "Main Points" proposes to begin compiling of around 200 online core courses in the OUC, and to explore the operating mechanism of online teaching modes and teaching teams.
Under the topic “promoting ‘online learning space known to all’ to make new progress”, the "Main Points" proposes to speed up publicity and application of online learning space, perfect the teaching platform of the OUC, realize data integration among students’ space, teachers’ space, and the management platform, and construction of the academic affairs platform of the OUC. This will be done as pilot work toward unified identity authentication in teaching and management system such as the teaching platform, academic affairs platform, studying space, and mobile office.
