The Open University of China (OUC) recently held a graduation ceremony for its Lifelong Education Platform "Yuanyang Plan" operational talents training programme.
Fan Xianrui, a member of the Party Committee and vice president of the OUC, delivered a speech at the ceremony. The event was held in a hybrid format, combining online and offline methods, and was attended by 52 individuals from 10 different units of the university, including the OUC Learning Resources Department, Information Technology Department, University of Older Adults, External Training Department, Engineering Centre, and the special team of the Platform. Li Wei, deputy director of the Learning Resources Department (Digital Library), served as the host of the ceremony.
Fan Xianrui emphasised, for the present stage and in the future, it is of importance for the OUC to build a digital university that connects the world and helps create a learning society and a country of learning. She acknowledged that operational talents play a crucial role in building a digital university and that operational ability is a vital digital skill that open universities, particularly its management and service team, should possess. During her speech, she highlighted that the training provided a platform for cross-departmental exchange and teamwork and that the participants from ten different units of the university not only improved their digital operational skills but also strengthened mutual understanding and connections through their three-month study. She encouraged the graduates to continue striving for excellence in their journey of building the digital university, to put their learning into practice, and to make more meaningful contributions to the university's high-quality development.
He Haoyu, vice president and Yu Hao, operational expert of NetEase Youdao (Beijing) Co., Ltd., introduced the results of the training and praised the participants for their perseverance in learning despite challenging circumstances. Seven learners were selected to share their training experiences and reported that the comprehensive training content allowed them to systematically acquire the skills, mindset, and methods for internet operations. They expressed their understanding of the importance of building a connection between products and users and pledged to work towards promoting the sustainable development of the Platform.
Forty-one students received certificates of completion, with thirty-two of them being recognised as Outstanding Students. Additionally, three teams were honoured with medals for their outstanding performance.
